Audiobook Review On How To Date Your Dragon

Mystic
Bayou, LA is a special and unique town, one that the League of
Interspecies Cooperation has its eye on. In an effort to uncover
their secret for the blissful interspecies relations, the League
sends in Jillian, one of their top recommended anthropologists to
conduct a study on the residents. Jillian has worked her whole life
for this opportunity and is elated about the new assignment, but will
her research subjects be as enthusiastic about her as she is them? In
an attempt to find Mystic Bayou's secrets, she uncovers more than
what she bargained for! Will Jillian rise to the challenge, or will
she run scared with her tail between her legs?
Doctor
Jillian Ramsey arrives in Mystic Bayou with an open mind and almost a
virgin like purity to her. She is smart and inquisitive, but when it
comes to the social aspect of things, she is clueless. When she meets
Mayor Zed and Sheriff Bael, she pretty much knows right off the bat
how well her stay will be. The comedic circumstances, and
interactions with others had me laughing right in Chapter One. The
detailed descriptions of the smells, textures, and people came in
just the right dose, as well as timing. Jillian does the best she can
on such short notice, being as she was sent there last minute in
place of Doctor Montez, her mentor and the head shit. But as Jillian
begins her interviews with various town folk/shifters, she begins to
show her true personality, which is quite annoying at times. She is
very stubborn and wants to do everything herself, even though she has
no idea how dangerous of a position she is in, and once she gets
involved with the love interest, she pretty much blows off all the
personal stuff he tells her. Now add a murder, then another, oh
wait...one more. Instead of being concerned for her welfare, Jillian
plugs away like that doesn't change shit, and gets angry with love
interest when he wants to protect her! Fuck woman, you had your good
points, now you're coming off like a douche! My perception of Jillian
is not nice but her irritating self made the story what it is, so in
my book it's all good. Now Bael, he is the love interest for Jillian.
First off, he totally makes up for Jillian's sass, cause OMG! Bael is
for real, sensitive, masculine, a lover and a fighter, and no shit
sitting on a pile of lucky charms! Bael for sure has a brooding,
tall, dark and handsome thing going on, but once Jillian gets in, he
is all mushy inside, lol. I really loved Bael, all of him! And the
town's people were so funny, and quirky, that they fit the bill for
what this towns vibe was going for.
The
story and plot was not to off the beaten path for the overall feel of
the book. The plot has it's danger, but it wasn't to over the top,
and fell right in line with what Jillian had uncovered. Jillian and
the towns back story came into play throughout the book, which gave
the story a nice depth to it that I was pleasantly surprised by. As
far as happy endings, I was conflicted because Jillian pulled such an
asshole move on Bael, that really pissed me off, but then had the
outcome I wanted, with some reservations because Jillian was still
being a tool! I almost feel like Jillian doesn't deserve Bael. Damn
you Harper, I hate conflict! Ugh...that's all I'm saying, I'm done.

Amanda
Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators! She is totally awesome, and
fabulous! I always enjoy her comedic timing, along with the right
touch of snark to her tone, lol. Hands down 5 Fangs. Jonathan Davis
also narrated in Bael's POV parts of the book. I don't believe I have
ever listened to anything by him before. I would have to double check
that, but doesn't ring a bell. He did well. His take on the story was
not as performance driven as Amanda's, more just like reading, but
hey it didn't suck so there ya go. I can always appreciate a smooth
voice, and excellent audio. Jonathan was cool, and I give him 3
Fangs.
