Audiobook Review On The Trouble With Twelfth Grave, (Charley Davidson #12)

Ever
since Reyes Farrow escaped from a hell dimension in which Charley
Davidson accidentally trapped him, the son of Satan has been
brimstone-bent on destroying the world his heavenly Brother created.
His volatile tendencies have put Charley in a bit of a pickle. But
that's not the only briny vegetable on her plate. While trying to
domesticate the feral being that used to be her husband, she also has
to deal with her everyday life of annoying all manner of beings--some
corporeal, some not so much--as she struggles to right the wrongs of
society. Only this time she's not uncovering a murder. This time
she's covering one up...
In
this epic episode with Charley Davidson, she has trapped her sexy
husband, Reyes, in the God Glass. While desperately trying to release
him from the hell dimension, he breaks free and wreaks havoc on our
realm. As Charley follows the dead bodies around town, she fears the
worst...that Reyes is the one killing innocent humans. Can she get to
the bottom of things before she loses Reyes forever?
I
love the immediate continuation of this story from the previous book,
Eleventh Grave In Moonlight. Although Charley is panicking
inside about setting Reyes free from a hell dimension, she appears
cool, calm, and collected as she continues onward with her P.I.
business. Charley gets wrapped up in a crime family business sort of
deal, uncovers the mystery of a missing friend, and guides young
Amber, (Cookie's daughter) as she begins her own P.I. business with
her deaf boyfriend Quintin. Those two are so adorable it really does
hurt sometimes! One of the major “pros” of this series and author
is that she has this uncanny ability to give Charley such a great
personality, and make light of the grimmest of situations. It's
really a fine balance of “flaky” vs. “witty”. Charley is
smart, she can see the bigger picture, and doesn't mess around with
niceties...straight to the point, can you do this for me or not?! I
think that's what makes me laugh the most, her “I don't want to
hear your whole life story, just do it!” attitude, lol.
The
trouble with this story line was that I figured out the mystery way
before it started to unravel. Call me smart, or just call me super
paranoid and I watch too much X Files, but yeah I knew what was going
to happen...totally. So does that mean the author is slipping? To be
honest with you, I certainly hope not! Lets call it a fluke for now.
Also, just an FYI she drops a cliff hanger sort of deal on us just
like she did with the previous book! I hate cliffhangers, and
considering this isn't the first time during this series, it's
irritating me now. Those are my “cons” for this book, and not bad
considering we are twelve books into an ongoing series.
What
I would like to see for this series' future is this, keep me on my
toes! Now is the time in a series when it can fall flat and
repetitive, so go for the gusto! WOW me! Pull a psycho bitch move on
me that I never saw coming! I LOVE Charley's story and I want to
continue enjoying every adventure, I really do! As long as new books
keeps coming about Charley, I'm there...but whether or not I can
continue to recommend them is another story.
Narrator Review
Lorelei King, as I live and breath. Lorelei has been with this gig since the very beginning of Charley's journey. I LOVE HER! The tone of her voice, the timing of her sarcasm, is excellent! She just gets Charley, and embodies her essence, I am so fan girling over her! I know this narrator so well that as soon as she goes into another character I know exactly whom is speaking! I whole heartedly give Lorelei 5 Fangs! Great job Lorelei, and keep up the fantastic work that you do.
