Blurb: Rachel Morgan's come a long way from the clutzy runner of Dead Witch Walking. She's faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She's crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon. She's lost friends and lovers and family, and an old enemy has become something much more.
But power demands responsibility, and world-changers must always pay a price. That time is now.
To save Ivy's soul and the rest of the living vampires, to keep the demonic ever after and our own world from destruction, Rachel Morgan will risk everything.
My description of the last book in the most awesome series in the world is, in one word, EPIC! And Marguerite Gavin's performance of this book and all the books she has narrated in this series is AWESOME! Marguerite, you get a well deserved 5 Fangs rating from me as well as Kim on the book!
The story picks up where the last book left off, with Rachel and Trent doing the nasty still, Woo Hoo! Ivy is still with Nina, the poor living vamp that is hiding a secret from Ivy, and the loveable pixie Jenks, "Tink's a Disney whore! Of course I'm still here!" The team is back on a run together, like old times, when the job they are doing becomes more than just a wham bam thank you ma'am kinda job. Ivy is almost killed right off the bat, and Cormel is the mother fucking pus bucket behind it all. Nothing is ever easy, is it??
Cormel comes back to collect a debt Rachel owes him, with a side of Asshole Syndrome attached. He promised Rachel and Ivy protection in return for Rachel finding a way to reunite the vamps with their souls. Well, well, well.....Rachel has been so busy poking the lion, that she has put that on the back burner...until now.
Rachel, burning the candle at both ends, trying to keep everyone in her circle safe from harm, while she tries to accomplish this tremendous task, slips up several times along the way. Rachel gets her ass kicked, shot at, and mobbed by a crowd of protesters. It's with great surprise that she makes it to the end of each day! Trent is by her side, with constant moaning and groaning, and not in a good way, about him putting himself in harm's way, ends up saving her ass, A LOT! Trent is awesome in this book, and steps up several times, not letting Rachel face danger alone.
Racing the clock that Cormel has put on her, Rachel faces her past demons, literally, to unite them all in the epic battle for freedom. I love how just when you think all is good, the second wave of "OH SHIT" happens! The twists and turns in the book kept me glued in place, (not to pages, since it was an audiobook)! I am sad to see the end of the series, but absolutely love how it all turns out. OH, this isn't the end end though! Al has the last word in his own short story, Sudden Backtrack, that comes out October 28th! So get your sexy self over to Amazon, (just click on the link I provided), and preorder that shit! You will love me for telling you about it!
